Ok, the similar looking woman in the first new years cartoon was in fact a bartender, not a barista. So who knows?

He may have been driving on the wrong side of the road but the steering wheel was still on the left.

He was driving on the left side of the road. If you look, you can see the vehicles behind Steve’s car are driving in the opposite lane heading in the opposite direction so the ‘divided highway’ idea is out. Also, the “Hi” in the last panel’s talk bubble looks as though it is coming from someone who could be smoking a cigarette.

But if you notice, in the last strip, the steering wheel is still on the right side for multiple cars.

Maybe we’re learning some backstory on Steve and Emaline’s relationship, or maybe she went back to England or something. Who knows. We’ll find out soon enough.
